Dear Families,
It’s time for your child to select two important people that they will be relying upon for spiritual support throughout the rest of their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
One of these people is someone who’s already living in heaven! We’re speaking, of course, of their Confirmation Saint. The other person is their Confirmation Sponsor- someone who’s living on earth, but seeking heaven through the way they follow Christ!
Your child’s next step for Confirmation Prep is to choose their Saint and Sponsor and submit them to us by March 1. Detailed instructions for doing this are provided here:
Parents, please read through the instructions with your child. We’ve included an explanation for why they need to pick a Saint and Sponsor, details about who they can choose, answers to some frequently asked questions, and guidance for making a prayerful, intentional decision about each.
Once your child has made their choices, they need to complete the Saint and Sponsor Form to tell us who they have picked by March 1:
Please note that the deadline for this form is March 1. The preparation steps that follow depend upon us having this information from your child, which means that your child will not be able to progress further in their preparation until the Saint and Sponsor Form is turned in. At the end of the day, there's no need to panic about a missed deadline (*see note below), but we
do need to hold everyone accountable to the anticipated
Preparation Timeline in order to prevent backlogs and unncessary administrative work on our end. Thank you for your assistance with this!
*If your family should need a deadline extension for any reason, please let us know! We are able to accomodate that, within reason-- we simply ask that you communicate such a request clearly to us in writing (via email). In doing so, be sure to include the date by which you anticipate your child will submit the form.
Don't forget, the above instructions and form are both available on the
2027 Preparation Dashboard, along with any other resources and information you may need.
Please let us know if you have any questions,
Marissa Dawson
