Dear Confirmation Families,
Thank you for registering your child for Confirmation preparation at St. Patrick! We are grateful for the opportunity to walk with you and your child throughout this process.
Below you will find information about the dashboard we use to provide you with access to the information and resources and information you'll need throughout Confirmation preparation. I've also outlined the next steps your family should take to in order to get started!
2027 Preparation Dashboard:
This webpage will be your go-to source of information for guiding your child through Confirmation preparation. While we also send out periodic emails, the dashboard is the central location that provides you with easy access to announcements, instructions, forms, and links needed at any point of the year. Please bookmark it and be sure check it often throughout preparation!
Due to our 15-month preparation for Confirmation, we have two overlapping groups of candidates preparing for Confirmation each Fall. Your child is in the group of candidates preparing to be confirmed in January 2027, so all communication pertaining to your child will typically be labeled with the year 2027. The timing of activities and deadlines for requirements vary between your child's group and the older group of candidates who are finishing up their preparation right now- that's why it's important to follow along on the 2027 Dashboard in order to know what information is relevant to your child's preparation.
Next Steps:
Here are the next steps you should take to help your child stay on track with their preparation.
1. Review the Preparation Requirements and Timeline with your child
It is a good idea to sit down with your child and go through this document together so that you both understand what is being asked of your child and when the different elements of preparation with occur. We highly recommend printing the timeline and keeping it someplace easy to see throughout preparation. Some families find it helpful to mark off each part of preparation on the timeline as their child completes it. You might also wish to mark your calendar or schedule reminders for some of the key activities and due dates shown on the timeline to help you stay on track.
2. Participation in Discipleship Commitment
Your child should begin participating in their selected Discipleship Commitment activity, if they have not already started to do so. The Discipleship Commitment refers to one of the following activities, selected at registration, that provides your child with on-going spiritual formation througout Confirmation preparation.
3. Ask your Child to Complete Discipleship Reflection Survey #1
Discipleship Reflection #1 is an online survey consisting of multiple choice and short answer questions. It is due on October 31st and only takes about 10 minutes for your child to complete. A 3-minute instruction video is included at the top of the form.
The purpose of this survey is to give us a snapshot of each candidate’s beliefs, faith life, etc. at the start of their preparation.
4. Review the Confirmation Retreat Information Packet
Confirmation Retreat is coming up on November 8-9. As a reminder, your child was automatically registered for this retreat when you registered them for Confirmation preparation this Fall. You can find full details about the retreat in the
Retreat Information Packet. If your child is unable to attend the retreat with us on November 8-9, review your options here.
